SUMMER SKIRTS: MINI VS MAXI
Summer skirts are undoubtedly a necessity. You can't live without them. They are incredibly light and go with practically anything, surely leveling up your hot girl summer OOTDs. We've already seen a hint at which skirts will flop and which will soar. Mini skirts or a maxi skirts? That is the real question.
While the mini skirt has dominated prior seasons, the maxi is this spring's top trend since it is a more refined and mature alternative. Look to the runways from Altuzarra, Brandon Maxwell, Khaite, and Tibi for the Spring/Summer 2023 collections, which featured a variety of the best maxi skirts for the season, some in practical denim and others in luxurious sequins.

If you're a lover of maxi skirts, you probably already know that the long, airy design is the ideal way to give any outfit a free-spirited, slightly bohemian feel. Katie Holmes tapped into the summer-ready look that goes with almost anything in your closet when she was seen taking a phone call while out in New York City earlier this month. Holmes opted for a long maxi skirt with pleats, a thin jacket, and dad sandals.
This month, Rihanna also appeared in her own take on the maxi skirt, wearing an outfit by Chrome Hearts that featured a floor-length skirt with a high slit, a single-button shirt, strappy sandals, and jewelry by Mikimoto and Jacob & Co. A mini, however, has a slightly sexier and more contemporary feel. The mini-skirt made a comeback in 2022 when Miuccia Prada, an Italian designer, debuted a line of extremely short skirts as part of the Prada and Miu Miu spring 2022 collections. Since then, this aesthetic has developed a distinct celebrity status. It would be simpler at this point to make a list of the celebrities who haven't sported a Miu Miu or Prada micro-mini. Several celebrities, including Hailey Bieber, Hunter Schafer, Emily Ratajkowski, and Kiernan Shipka, have been spotted wearing the ensemble lately.

In an elegant and flirty look, the model Kendall Jenner went out this spring for dinner at Carbone in New York City with Bad Bunny. Under a semi-sheer brown crop top with a single strap that hung loosely off one shoulder, Kendall decided to forgo a bra. She wore matching knee-high boots buckled all the way around and a brown leather micro miniskirt with a fuzzy fabric belt and hem.
Hailey Bieber also used her tried-and-true mini-maxi formula for her outing in New York, experimenting with proportions to design the perfect spring look. She wore a black top, an oversized Prada coat, and a belted camel mini skirt from Prada. The mini displays skin and adds a touch of eroticism to any outfit, day or night. It can transform a basic shirt into what appears to be a complete statement.
