LUTHIER, DEAN GORDON BUILDS ONE OF A KIND GUITAR INSPIRED BY MCLAREN’S SPEEDTAIL ‘XP2’ PROTOTYPE

Dean Gordon with McLaren Speedtail 'XP2' Virtus Guitar

Luthier, Dean Gordon, Founder of Dean Gordon Guitars located in Miami, Florida builds one of a kind ergonomic guitar inspired by McLaren's Speedtail ‘XP2’ Prototype.

“McLaren being synonymous with cutting-edge design and pushing boundaries made it a no- brainer choice of inspiration for my Automotive inspired line of guitars. These guitars are my artistic exercise, where I not only try to make the best playing and sounding guitars possible, but to put an artistic flair on them beyond what I normally do. The Speed Tail was the perfect muse.”, said Gordon.

The McLaren Speedtail ‘XP2’ Prototype was introduced as the brand’s first Hyper-GT in 2018— finished in a Oxblood Red aniline nubuck leather interior cabin with a sleek Saragon Quartz exterior.

Embracing the Speedtail’s geometric design, Gordon chose his Virtus guitar model for this magnificent one of a kind guitar. The body is made from old stock lightweight alder wood; The neck is made with master grade flamed maple, while the lower horn of the guitar is milled from aircraft grade aluminum.

The guitar features a carbon fiber backplate, a hand stitched leather lower horn cover, and Oxblood Red leather detailing inside the guitar's wire cavities.

Much like the guitars design elements, the Speedtail follows the McLaren ethos of functional design that tells a visual story, crafted from lightweight materials.
