ISSUED SUPPORTS: ARMENIAN GENOCIDE REMEMBRANCE DAY

Source: CBD College

Today, April 24, 2022 is Armenian Genocide Remembrance day. The date commemorates the deportation of over 250 Armenian intellectuals on April 24 1915 from Constantinople. Where Armenians, Greeks and other Christians were subject to torture, starvation, mass murder and exile of their native homeland. Many were displaced and forced to escape to other countries for safety.

Approximately 1.5 million Armenians died during the genocide, which was a deliberate attempt by the Ottoman Empire to eliminate all traces of an ancient and thriving civilization that had lived in these regions for millennia.

As we reflect on the Armenian genocide, we recommit ourselves to speaking out and spreading awareness on our past to stop similar atrocities from occurring again in the future. On this day, we honor the survivors and victims of the Armenian genocide and stand in solidarity with the US Government's recognition of genocide in Armenia from 1915 to 1923.

We have also decided to donate money and start a fundraiser with the Children of Armenia Fund (COAF) on Instagram. 100% of the donations will be sent to the COAF from this fundraiser without fees. Should you decide to donate, the money will be used to improve the quality of health services in rural areas in Armenia; to implement and redesign education programs in villages including addition of new clubs, and programs for children to learn English etc. Any amount you are able to give could change the lives of many children and families during this uncertain time. Here is the link to the fundraiser on our Instagram.
