EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT PRADA'S NEW BEAUTY LINE
You've seen their luxurious emblem tacked on shoes, sweaters, and dresses since 1913. Prada's iconic triangular logo is the epitome of high-end fashion. However, one area where Prada has not yet ventured is the beauty sphere. Unlike brands such as Gucci, Dior, and Chanel, Prada has yet to sell any luxury skincare or makeup on their shelves. This all changed on August 1st when Prada launched their new project, Prada Beauty.

With their classic Candy Eau de Parfum, the brand has experience selling successful fragrances. But this is their first time entering a completely new world of skin products and makeup. And not to our dismay, their new items seem as though they will not disappoint.
Prada is launching these products under a campaign titled, Rethinking Beauty. Under this umbrella are their skincare and makeup lines: Prada Skin and Prada Color. They are entering a new and exciting era in their brand where beauty is enhanced through technology and sustainability. This, in conjunction with the product's fun look and feel, is bound to make these collections a must-buy.

On their new website, Prada Skin and Prada Color are said to "reconcile minimalism and maximalism; sophistication and playfulness; simplicity and versatility, drawing from heritage and technology for formulas and packaging that bring luxury and responsibility into harmonious conversation."
With the beauty line's sleek packaging and simplistic approach comes Prada's commitment to sustainability. Each product for both skincare and makeup comes in Prada's new Refillable Packaging. Every item has a detachable element to it that can be replaced and inserted back into the original product. This saves 62% of packaging compared to buying a completely new cream or makeup.

Their innovative sustainability approach makes their new line enticing for buyers looking to purchase clean products. This angle is slightly foreign in the luxury beauty realm where big brands usually focus on quality and forget about environmental responsibility. Prada Beauty forgoes this standard as both the skincare and makeup are the perfect blend of charming and conscientious.
Prada Skin released three products with the goal of revitalizing and plumping the skin. Their Augmented Skin The Cream ($360) comes in a 60 ML tub. It can be used both day and night as it adapts to the environment you are in. This Adapto.GN Smart Technology balances each climate and adjusts accordingly. It transforms from a gel to a balm, cooling your face when you first apply it and then deeply moisturizing as it melts into your skin.

Augmented Skin The Serum ($370) tightens the skin and brightens the rougher edges of the face. It is highly hydrating while still having a watery finish that leaves the skin feeling lightweight. The serum is packed with peptides and hyaluronic acid which moisturize and keep skin radiant.
The last (and least pricey) item in the line is the Augmented Skin The Cleanser ($80). It doubles as both a face wash and a makeup remover. The cleanser is meant to achieve supple, pure, and radiant skin while not leaving a dry finish that often comes with face wash. The simplicity of the cleanser allows it to work for various skin types.

Prada Color, the makeup extension of Prada Beauty, put four products on the shelf just a few days ago. Their Monochrome Soft Matte ($50) and Hyper Matte ($50) lipsticks are all the rage. Ranging in 12 shades, the Soft Matte is a buildable lip tint that can be as subtle or intense as one desires. The Hyper Matte is less translucent and applies thicker. Both are long-lasting and durable products that can benefit all makeup-wearers.
The Dimensions eyeshadow ($80) comes in six shade packs that are both light and dark. These pigmented palettes offer neutral and vibrant colors that are meant to be mixed and matched. Each eyeshadow is infused with Plukenetia Volubilis Oil, allowing the product to melt and easily glide onto the skin.
The Reveal foundation ($70) is a skin-enhancing buildable base for makeup. With 33 shades to offer and a soft matte finish, this foundation could be useful for both makeup newbies and oldies. It is easy to apply and is meant to last on the skin for 24 hours. Because of its ability to be both light and heavy, any style of makeup is possible to achieve with this foundation.

Overall, the new beauty adventure Prada is embarking on seems to be successful. Just as they understand the fashion realm, they have an eye for what is missing in the beauty sphere both with skincare and makeup. Although the items in these collections are pricey, they seem to have longevity and durability that is necessary for beauty products. Prada is filling a gap in the beauty industry that can be useful and critical for all.
