Prepare for a captivating journey as a fresh docuseries charts the extraordinary ascent of Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, and Christy Turlington during the vibrant decades of the '80s and '90s in New York City.
The upcoming four-part Apple TV+ extravaganza will center on the legendary quartet's illustrious careers and how they collectively upended the fashion industry's perceptions of what a model should be. They were no longer immaculate blank canvases; they were now real-life celebrities. The 1980s are depicted in The Super Models, when four ladies from various parts of the world met in New York. The gravitas they earned by banding together transcended the industry, according to the streaming service, who were already influential individuals in their own right.
Their prestige was so extraordinary that it enabled the four to supersede the brands they showcased, making the names Naomi, Cindy, Linda and Christy as prominent as the designers who styled them. Thanks to their philanthropic work, activism, and financial acumen, the four supermodels are still at the forefront of culture today. This is the ultimate story of power and how four women joined together to claim it, paving the path for those to follow at a time when the fashion industry continues to reinvent itself and women's positions within it.

In the interview for the March 2022 issue of British Vogue, Campbell talked openly about the show at that crucial time in her life. "It's about our shared experiences and phases in life, including our friendships, careers, women, and parenthood. We worked so hard, but it was an amazing experience. And we never claimed to be exhausted, despite numerous wardrobe changes or performances. We all enjoyed it and kept each other motivated. We would perform eight performances daily; then in the evening, we would celebrate with the designers. "Sometimes I wonder if models today could have kept up with us", she stated in the documentary.
When asked if walking down a runway was more enjoyable then than now, she responded, "Of course! Since you are with your girls. It's fantastic to hang out with these young people my age, but I must admit that during one of the performances, I yelled, "Come on, girls!" Reposition your feet! What's with your sluggish walking? My time was happier. We grinned. We have the chance to display our personality."
The most excellent part about the series is that Campbell, Crawford, Evangelista, and Turlington will be included in new, exclusive interviews about their reign in the 1990s. We anticipate that many designers will make appearances, from well-known names who worked with them during those formative decades to up-and-coming stars who were greatly influenced by their unabashed glamour and joie de vivre. There has yet to be a word on who else has commented on their seismic impact on the industry.
Larissa Bills and Roger Ross Williams, the Academy Award-winning documentarian behind Music by Prudence and Life, Animated, will direct the project. Another double Oscar winner, the legendary Ron Howard, is one of the Executive Producers, along with Campbell, Crawford, Evangelista, and Turlington, who will have a voice in conveying their narrative. "As models, we have no ownership rights in our likeness, so working together on our legacy in our own words feels nice," Campbell told British Vogue.
