BIG CHANGES AT CHLOÉ

Chloé, the French fashion house that has wowed fashion lovers for over 70 years, has announced two major developments for their brand. These changes welcome a new era for the glamorous company, leaving audiences wondering what this new era will hold.

Gabriela Hearst, who has led as Creative Director for the past three years, will be stepping down after her Spring/Summer 2024 collection. The Uraguayan-American designer has helmed the brand for the past three years, leaving behind a short, but memorable legacy. Hearst has made a valiant effort to implement sustainable practices regarding production and consumption. She was the force behind the company's B Corp Certification, which verifies its transparency regarding economic and social concerns.

Hearst not only has attempted to create carbon-neutral collections, but runways as well; She took actions such as casting models that didn't need to fly to the show and only using local foods to cater. One of her biggest endeavors with the brand involved her collaboration with Bass Timmer to use deadstock materials and create backpacks, using these funds to buy two ShelterSuits for the homeless.

The designer is retreating from her position to focus solely on her eponymous label, which she founded in 2017. Hearst has been double-manning these brands, and now is hoping to expand her personal brand into a bigger, household name. A replacement has not been named yet, with Hearst staying as director until her final runway show in September.

As Hearst exits the brand, Chloé expands into new territory with a collaboration with Atelier Jolie. Chloé's website describes the partnership as a, "ready-to-wear capsule collection celebrating both the maker and the wearer". Although Atelier Jolie has yet to release much information about the brand as a whole, they were quick to announce this likely duo. Despite Chloé being a longstanding company and Atelier Jolie just recently being founded, the two share a common cause: sustainability.

With these two major announcements, Chloé's upcoming season is bound to be interesting. Although Hearst has been announced to step down, she is going to be assisting Chloé's team with hiring her replacement.
